Im frustrated , and discouraged .The meet is in 2 weeks from now and Im not hiting weight . My arms were killing me today .My forarms are a mess .And I think its all because I did to much on tuesday . Last week 500 went like smoke off 2 brds .and I hit an easy 470 straight bench . This week I had to grind out a hard 455 .My arms were just hurting to much . So now what Two weeks left and I want 500 but Im not sure how to go about this .I have 500 in me, I know its there but it wont happen if Im all beat up .So do I skip this weeks DE bench day and hit it hard again next saturday ? Do I skip DE bench and go easy on saturday and Just hope for the best at the meet ? I have one week left of training thats this saturday then the next week is the meet . I felt great last week now its all messed up .Pray for me guys I need to pull this together for the meet if I want to hit 500 .Jason

Here was the workout today .
Raw warm ups then right into shirt .
315x3 345x3 365x3 405x1 425x1 435x1 455x1 but a grind .Nailed it but I hasd to work for it . backed down to 405x1 my arm was killing me
AND THAT WAS IT NO BRDS , NO LOCKOUTS ,NO TRI WORK NOTHING Jason

shirt on 315x8 nt 365x3 alltouched from here 405x3 425x3
3brd 450x3 475x1 500x1 easy
raw 3brd pinky on ring 315x5
pushdown 4 sets x10
pulldowns 4 sets x10
DB Shrugs 4sets x10
All went good the 500 went easy and the shirt triples where great . I was able to take my bench stroke from 14 inches to 10 inches so Im happy about that

Calf raises 4 sets x15
Ab work yuck 2 sets
Hammer curls 4 sets x12
That was the first time pulling in years it felt great .I keept it light on those because I just dont want to go in after not pulling anything for a few years and mess something up

Wow, Jason, that is some nice pulling considering you haven't done it in years! Good start!

I took a little break from powerlifting a while back, I call it my 16 year deload. Coming back I started relatively slowly, just like you. 5 years later so far so good. So (note the emphasis here) from "my" perspective, it worked "for me" and looks like it "may" be a solid plan for you as well!
Two words: ICY HOT!!!!!!

I read your post above about being frustrated.
Ibuprofen 30 min prior to workout. Ice the injury after workout then soak it in a warm bath a little later.
You probably know this- if the pain is in the elbows widen your grip a bit for a while. It the pain is toward your shoulders narrow it. I might even consider not shirting up until the meet . Less weight and 2 weeks to recover might = 500 lbs.
2 weeks out no lat work except some reps. 1 week out no tricep work except some reps.
Listen to your body and let the arms recover. You will not lose strength in 2 weeks.
Good luck at your meet.
Nah you dont need luck you have been training hard.

BLOOD BATH BENCH SATURDAY !!!!!!!!! Well out of 4 training partners one showed up today .So I keept it light as I needed to anyways and just did some reps .Well on the 405 x5 both sides of my nose blew wide open . As soon as I got off the bench I had to go throw up the blood that was collecting in my mouth . Thats a first for me .I had to stop after the 405 because my nose would not stop .So just did some raw work after that and called it quits . Squats warmed up with GM's
then went 135x8 185x8 225x5 275x3 315x3 365x3 405x1 445x1 PR cause I never squat .
Deads 135x5 225x3 275x3 315x3 335x3
Calf work 4sets of 8-10 Ab work
Hammer curls

nice job squatting. If you squat you will bench more. Pulling hurts my bench but squatting always helps mine.
I watched your video and you set up on the bench just like i do. It was like myself setting up. Cram those traps into the bench and drop those legs.

I just now read the "blood bath bench" post. WOW! That'll get your attention right quick! Fine pressing, but not the intended results.......
Congrats on the squat! For a guy who doesn't squat that is pretty good and strong!
