I had an old workout partner that used to always say "Safety Squat Bars and Speed Work are both kin to satan!"

(How do you put those laughing smileys in here?) That is a good one! I have another good one for you. Today I did "Sasquats". Rock bottom paused squats with chains. NAS DOUBLE T! I will pay dearly for those tomorrow. I'm in the 80% range right now and with the chains it takes me up to 95% at the top. OUCH! ICY HOT? WHERE ARE YOU? ? :') God Bless!

Haven't posted in a while, but I have been too blessed not to share!
First and foremost, thanks to GOD and HIS Son Jesus for the strength!
Gal 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
Recently: raw rock-bottom squats 425x4, 440x2 comp paused bench (that's my worst subject....) 290x3x2 deadlifts: 475x5x1, held the last rep for 30 seconds.
Thane, I was READY to try out some capsazin, just haven't run out of icy hot yet.
:')
God BLess!

I had a great workout myself last night. We were going to do some keg tosses and tire flipping but it was very cold and raining last night. So we opted for some pull thrus and deadlifts. I decided before we started that we were going to pull the bar off the floor atleast 60 times and one of mine had to atleast be 600. Problem is I forgot I was pulling with my power bar and not some oakie bar or oly bar so I got to 575 and stopped. all in all it was a great night.

Only 575? Poor guy! :') Nice pulling!
I have had two workouts this week worth praising the Lord for. I always try to live by "In all things give thanks," but these two were off the charts.
Yesterday, bench, 300x3x2 all comp. paused. Any of you that have known me for any period of time know my bench is my worst subject. I was shouting-time happy with yesterday's benching.
Until I squatted today.
Only by the grace of God and HIS strength, I was able to hit 440 for a triple, comp depth. That's a PR for me, and glory for the LORD, because it is through HIM only that I was able to get the weight.
God Bless!

Nice lifting brother. I did some squatting myself the other night. Went 2 wheels on a SSB with 100lbs of chain for 4x12, then did some front squats for a while. I have a severe problem with my hamstrings out powering my quads so I have been working on them quite a bit lately. Nice job especially on the 440 for a triple. Do you squat off a box or what? A friend of mine and myself have a little contest going to see who can get to 405x20 off a box first. He is probably going to beat me seeing as he is much stronger than me, but it still makes it fun. I get to 12 and either run out of breath or vision! I think he is up to 18 now!

405x20? EGAD! I don't do but 15 working reps max! I can fully appreciate running out of vision..... whoo doggy I'd be in a heap! Best I ever did was 10, but that was with knees wrapped.
I only use the box once in a while. Kind of a "cleanse the palate" kind of thing. Most times when squatting I'm talking full, competition depth squats. If you ever hear me use the term "Sasquats" that's a rock-bottom, paused squat with chains. Hateful.
Those front squats are a great way to help catch the quads up to the hams! It won't be long now.... ;')
Thanks for the kind words!

So I went out and bought some Capsazin HP. I read on the label I might feel a transient burning sensation that may last up to 3 days. I thought "yeah, right".
Saturday morning, 5:30, applied liberally to shoulders, elbows, knees, low back. Felt NOTHING! Majorly disappointed.
45 minutes later stopped for gas, felt a mild "black pepper" sensation. Thought, "this stuff must be time delay, but it sure is WEAK!!!"
An hour later I was about to scream. I started at black pepper, skipped jalapeno completely, and went straight to habanero. OUCH!
Got to the meet location and had cooled off considerably, so, like some poor uninformed soul, applied more to my knees. Shortly thereafter, ALL disappointment had been abated.
Sunday in Church my knees kept getting hotter and hotter, and I no longer scoffed at the "this might last for three days" disclaimer. All day Sunday I'd go hot for an hour, cool off for two, back hot again. Let's just say I now have GREAT appreciation for Capsazin HP.
On to the meet.
Sq 450, missed 475. BP 300, missed 315. DL 505, 525 was bolted to the floor. 1255@179.2. Had a great time, it was at a church so there were BUNCHES of Christian guys there, saw my good friend Woody and we got to catch up quite a bit, it was a GREAT experience.
God Bless.

Glad you got some! Now the worst part of the whole thing is the shower after training, or the ride home if you sweat and have it on your lower back! This is where the "blow torch" comes in.

Roger on the blow torch! I have decided the Capsazin will be for squat and deadlift days only. Blowtorches seem to be mild in comparison......
Can't remember all the workouts since the meet, but since I didn't lift enough to get really sore I just jumped right back into training. Here's this week so far.
Monday: bench. 250x6x2 all paused. Nastywides with 165+1 set of chains x6 Tuesday: squat. 455x1, 415x3x3 Wed: back and biceps. Today: bench. 250x6x4, paused the fourth rep on all 6 sets. CGBP (thingys Press) 225x2x3. Tricep hammers (dumbell thing) 50x5, 70x2. Triceps fried, ran out of time.
Tomorrow the bar hits the floor. WOO HOO!!!!!!
God Bless.
