I think that they are safe and can prevent injury but lets see what you all think.

I believe they are safe, however, raw is raw. Belts should not even be allowed in a true raw lift.

I don't mean to sound like I'm contradicting myself, but I'm right down the middle on knee wraps. I'll train with wraps to go 95-98% for that extra rep or two (and to keep my patellas from splattering against the wall), but I compete without them.

You arent contradicting yourself. I listed knee and wrist wraps separately on the poll because you cant lump them together. Wrist wraps arent as protective as knee wraps. (Just an opinion) I cant prove this. I hope enough people vote on the polls to help you out with your research.

The term "raw" did not exist until the extreme suits and shirts came out. I like the term "old school" better. Lifters were wearing belts and wraps in the first powerlifting meets. I think a belt and wraps are just as much a part of powerlifting as the chalk, blood and sweat. I don't think many lifters ever really considered not using a belt or wraps until they started trying to define what "raw" was.

well. It seems that people are mostly ok with wrist wraps but not knee wraps. That is exactly the opposite of what I thought we would get. How about that.
