My God is an Awesome God !!!
All the Honor and Glory and Praise goes to Jesus, I am worthless and weak but He makes me strong.. Thank you Lord for guiding me through, And helping me keep my cool when things got scarey. But mostly thank you Lord for another chance to worship you...
Our mission was to go to one of the toughest powerlifting meets in the country and Lift but also lift up the Name of Jesus, to be a witness for and to worship Him. All the numbers were secondary goals..
Squats ,
Suit was fitting real loose in warmups. The suit is over a yr old and after all the weeks of hiutting huge weight in it it may be a bit stretched out in the hips. Warming up 815 in the Wup room felt real heavy so I lowered the opener to 825 to be safe. so
1st 825 easy but very unfocussed and dizzy, 2nd 871 easy again but I think i was having sinus issues cause my equilibrium was all wacked felt like I was leaning but I wasn't. then 3rd 909 for pr unracked it and felt the bar roll slightly then to adjust I guess my left arm caught it but my bicep twinged real hardcore and felt like a tearing spasm so I racked and passed on it rather then chance a serious injury...
Bench ,
Past couple weeks been haing shirt problems not touchign right wrong groove etc.. So I went to 733 for an opener and thought well it will be heavy enough to touch and I know I can prolly toss it so thats what I did..
1st 733 easy, 2nd 755 easier, 3rd 777 adjusted shirt a bit tighter but honestly the weight wasnb't heavy enuff for the adjustment and ended up to low and plopped on the top of my belly straining my bicep and elbow even more. 804 would have dropped perfect in the groove and I would have prolly slammed it. Should have listened to the spirit when I felt to go for 800...
Deads,
Arm was hurting pretty good here but warmed up and things were ok not great but ok..
all were done in loose belt and singlet.
1st 589 easy but hurt, 2nd 650 broke pr total but wasn't exactly easy and hurt a little more, 3rd 677 for 2303 total, I grinded this badboy all the way up from the shins to lockout, this time everything hurt, biceps forearms, hams, lowerback all were spasming but I wouldnt let it go till I stood up with it. Praise God good lift...
In 2001 I did the WPO meet in orlando and posted my worst total in history. I totaled 1880 I think. I came real close to quitting the sport back then but 8 weeks later I heard the call of God on my life and gave myself over to Him.. 4 yrs has passed and 423 lbs later I am alive and stronger in more ways then ever thanks to Jesus..
Besides my lifting My little brother John "The Witness" Bernor lifted like a Blessed Warrior. He manhandled his squats and benches, got a couple tough calls but He fought the enemy all day to hit a 2551 total.. Hopefully John will be going to the arnold where he can bring his awesome display of spirtual power to a huge crowd to see the grace and power of Jesus living inside of him.. Love you buddy, without watching you toss this weight around I would still be dreaming of an 800 squat and prolly still be a baby christian.
Huge thank you's go to Eric without Him we couldn't have a clue to what numbers to try. Peter for being the kind of handoff man he is when its GO time. Ron for helping all of us out and being supportive. And to Nikki the VOICE who made Ryan Kennely's ears ring for hrs after the meet (she was sitting behind him) thanks for being the loudest cheering section. Last but deffinately not least (have yu seen that belly) My Wife for loving me and my passion to serve God and lift crazy weight...
