Hi My name is Mike, and I am a follower and massive fan of King Jesus. I am also a Kiwi living in Aussie, I cant find any Fellowship forums for Aussie Christian power lifters, so i hope you don't mind if I visit with you guys maybe for as long as you'll have me. I am 36 and been lifting since I was 28, I really only started power training over the past 6 months, but have always stuck religiously to my 3 cores. A late start but better late then never I suppose. I ask Jesus in to my life when I was 32 and have been lifting to the Glory of God just recently. I'm not what I would consider strong, I have been blessed with all types of injuries and have been a chronic Asthmatic all my life, so I have to take a bunch of meds not good for muscle or Strength development. My past is checkered to say the least, but it is just that the past and I have been forgiven through the mighty grace of God. Now me and Jesus work through it together. The picture I have provided is a bit old. but here are my stats so far. Bench Press 120kg Barbell, or 50kg Dumbbells Squat 140kg Dead lift 190kg pretty weak stuff so far, so looking for advice.... I also enjoy one armed standing dumb ell press doing only 35kg db's and dumbbell incline press using 45kg db's I hope you guys don't mind me hanging around and sharing worship through the blessing of strength of Spirit and weights Thanks Attachments:

Hi Regardless Mike.. The administrator is also named Mike. So for now is it ok to call you RM? Well RM I am pretty much in the same boat you are in. I have also a disability to try to work around. It does not so much affect my per say Benching effort. Rather my effort of balance and ensuring where I am standing. Briefly I will just say I am vision impaired.
I have not been active in any exercises since 3 to 4 years ago mostly. . I started up and stopped before making any much progress. That' what happens sometimes when your on your own.. It's much why I want to be a part of CPOA to belong to a lifting group of believers.
I was at a couple of exercise forums just to be disappointed these people don't know much about weight lifting. To say no one mostly was going to share much or bring me to a better level. I was giving advice rather than having much anyone to inspire me to learn new things.
I got a system but I have a lot of room for a lot of improvement other could share to me. Sometime I want to get a trainer to develop better Lifting techniques. For I lift only to the habits I have always had. I do ok but I know I can improve on better method and discipline of rules in proper lifting. As for my bench for example I often think my left arm likes to get to the top before my right one. Would that be allowed in a Bench contest? I really don't know. I have not entered on of these contests. But I know a lot of my barbel movements are not even with both arms.
RM I have as you reached the 'Semi Power Lifting Level ' years ago. The number that you present several of them is better than what I did. On Dead Lift for example my best is 315 lbs at 1 to 3 reps. That's why I am placed in the semi group of power lifters. .
As a Christian that we are honest must first bite on our tongue. For even when we walk on the floor we must acknowledge the prescience of God that when we work out with other participants remember what God wants us to do. Always put back the plates and bars. For Jesus said. Do unto others as we would like to be treated.
Luke 6:31 New King James Version (NKJV) 31 And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. If someone also wants water all others to go ahead of you. For Jesus say the first will be last and the last will be first. He that places himself ahead shall be brought to the last. But he that makes himself last shall be placed in first. Yes RM and all other Lifters. Humbleness is a character even at our Local fitness centers.
Try to make a few friends while your lifting. Find an opportunity to share your Christian Faith with other non believing lifters. If you are a Kind Lifter some may ask why are you so helpful? Then tell them I know of the most powerful being in all the universe. He is so powerful and yet God is full of compassion. If God all powerful goes out of the way to be kind and to help us why not me a man formed of the dust do in likewise?. . For we shall show our light unto men
Matthew 5: 13-16
Believers Are Salt and Light 13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
RM this is my best advice on Lifting. But also I would like to say your bringing in good respectable lifting numbers. So even in the Power lifting aspect you have come a long way down the road. How to advance? Stay consistent. If you stop for too long a time you will not achieve these numbers your goal may want to obtain. . Many of us start and stop and doing this over and over. It's why most Club lifters don't get past 225 on the bench. It is a vicious endless cycle. So if you are consistent now you will continue to move forward. If you however believe you have reached plateau lifting patterns. I recommend this one thing. . Remember to do lighter sets and higher repetition. .
When I was Benching and always tried to lift heavy I was not going far enough. . When I included lighter sets with my Heavy ones I was able to continue my climbing at a fair rate. So if you are doing reps of 8, 4 and 2 for example. Remember to practice your 10, 15 and 20 days of higher rep conditioning. To say every work out does not have to be the highest or heaviest Lift.
Even as in football practice some will run and lift on some days. On other days they are practicing in the field. But the game is where they need to use all this training. In likewise your Power is produced by various methods including higher rep days in between your Power Lift Highest rep days. Yet vice versa? If you are doing a lot of light and not heavy. Then add lower reps and hirer weight to your lighter reps and poundage. The better your range and flexibility the more capable one is to advance to both higher poundage and keeping their muscle cut and fit at the same time. . Here at CPOA we are not in competition to beat one another. But rather we are here to help one another achieve both their lifting desire and especially ones reliance on God. Jesus assembled with the 12 disciples. . We also can be as a group of Disciples to fellowship here . Make this place feel as being at home. Your friend Fit

regardless first even though I am new also I would like to welcome you here to CPOA. Don't worry about not having any forum to post to in Australia.
God is universal and to me the world is just one big place with no dividing boundaries in it.
I see that your numbers are good. I don't mean to sound unintelligent but what are 3 cores?
I also noticed that you stated that because of asthma and taking meds you still try to powerlift and that you have had God in your life now for about 4 yrs now. God knew exactly how you are to be..
Psalm 139:14 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works,
If God needs you to be stronger he will see to it that his will be done for you to be stronger.. He has it all planned for you in everything he wants for you and from you.
I wish you much luck in achieving any goals that you may have in regards of powerlifting.. Welcome again
