Any advice on water retention? I know it's a bodybuilder problem but it can be a powerlifter problem as well. Any suggestions?

Are you trying to cut weight?
Essentially, increase your protein and water intake for a couple of days. No heavy carbs. Then decrease the water. Should lose 5 pounds or so of water within a couple of days.

Do you cut carbs out all together or just reduce intake? I'm maintaining 25g of protein every 2-3 hours and keeping the carbs at a normal rate right now.

I didn't answer your question...sorry...I am trying to push the water out. I do bodybuilding as well as powerlifting and I have a bodybuilding contest coming up. So I am trying to get all the excess water out to increase muscle separation for the show.

Oh. I don't know much about BB. However, there was a guy in the gym who was getting ready for a BB show a few months back. He did drink lots of water and cut his carbs to practically nothing. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you how long he did this for. Good luck.

I would salt deplete while drinking plenty of water [double intake] during the last week [especially last 48 hours] before a bodybuilding meet. Another thing you can do is create a sauna in your bathroom the night before. Just don't put bronzer on until afterwards.

Thanks for the advice, I will try that. I've been taking in a great amount of water these past few weeks, probably 20-30% more than I would during regular training. I think it has helped make me leaner. I'l try to step it up a notch that last week though and cut out the salt.
