I haven't posted in a long time. I lost my log in name and pass word, so I ended up starting a new account. I have been out of pocket for a few months due to an injury. I'll be 61 in a few weeks, but I believe I can come back from injury. This all started about 6 months ago with severe pain in right elbow. I went to a doctor and he said it was just tendinitis, so I kept on training. In August I did a WABDL (DL only) in Manchester, Tn. The pain was almost unbearable, but even with that I pulled 534. I went to a specialist when I got back from meet and he ended up having MRI done. My triceps tendon had separated from the bone. I had surgery on October 1, 2007. He re-attached the tendon and also removed a great deal of calcium buildup on my elbow. My recovery has been going pretty well. I'm down to one training day a week and thats pretty much legs only (squat). The doctor just started me on some lite tri work. He tells me that its going to be at least April 2008, before he will let me bench and deadlift. It's hard for me to stay out of gym and competitions since I was such a prolific competitor (111 meets in my career), but I'm doing what the doctor tells me to do, so hopefully my recuperation will go well.

How's the recovery going? I just had the same exact situation. continued to workout throught the pain, then popped the tricep tendon right off the bone. The surgeon said that it's extremely rare, that only 1 in 1,000 elbow injuries are like this. Surgery on done on 1/15.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Sorry for delay in answering, I haven't checked this site in awhile. My recovery is still just o.k. I'm only training 1-2 days a week, and I'm primarily just squatting and doing leg work. Even holding the bar when I'm squatting seems to agrevate my tri tendon some. At my last doctors visit I found out a small piece of a bone fragment had broken off. Doctor said it wasn't nothing to worry about and would not require further surgery. I'm going to try and hang in there. I'm 61 now but I still believe I can come back. I just have to realize that its going to take more time than I thought.
