Hi My Name is Trebor I am a new member here. I am interested to get into Bench press competitions. how do you get into them?
has anyone been to one and know what to expect there?
Are there other weight lifting competitions like who can squat the most who can curl the most.
or A fitness competition of some kind?
I would like to know about the various weightlifting contests they have out there. if there are any outside of Bench press? please let me know i would appreciate it

Benchpresser, there are numerous organizations out there with different attributes to the sport. An organization/website I like is North Star Pride. They promote drug free lifting. You have numerous drug free meets. I would go watch a couple before you just jump in. I use to lift in AAU and IBP. I have lifted in many others as well. You have the USAPL and Nasa also. Check out NSP's website. A lot of good info there. I have known Keith Payne for many years and helped out there for a long time. I have moved my focus to family/church now, so competing is not an option right now. The link to their site is below. You can ask if there are any meets coming your way. Here is the link: northstarpride.proboards77.com/index.cgiWhat state do you live in? Be Blessed, Mike

The best advice I can give is to find a gym where powerlifters train in your area. If you can't find one, find a meet and ask some of the lifters where they train at and get hooked up with them. You may have to drive a good distance to train, and you may end up training in a cold garage somewhere, but there is no replacement for other lifters that share the same passion as you. I used to drive an hour both ways four times a week to train at House of Payne Gym but there is absolutely no way I would have made the progress I made otherwise. Good luck brother!

PLUSA magazine has hundreds of meets listed. Also, you can go to Powerliftingwatch.com. THey have all the federations listed with links to each one.
Actually, getting into meets is quite easy. Just find one close by and enter.
