My current weight is 151.5 and I need to be 148.5 by March 23---how tough will that be to make? What can I do to lose 3 lbs? I have never weighed in the morning---how much a difference will that make?

You have plenty of time to lose that. You can lose that in the course of 2-3 days. Restrict your carbs, eat more protein and drink a lot of water. Make sure you rehydrate after you weigh in. I'm assuming you're weighing in the morning of the meet.
I like to get to competing weight by about a week away. Then I monitor what I eat the rest of the week. This also allows me to still eat carbs. Since I usually weigh in the day before, I spend that whole day packing on the weight I took off. 5 pounds isn't that big of a deal. Some will take off 10-15 pounds in a few days, then put it back on before they compete.

Hi Jeff, I agree with Vince, you have plenty of time since your so close to 148 anyway. I've never had any trouble at 220, but I had to cut weight often when I was 198. You should weigh a little less in the morning. You can also sweat out 1 or 2% of your bodyweight without loosing any strength. The most I ever sweat out the day before a meet was 8 pounds to make 181. It was my last meet as a 181 and I set all new state records in ADFPA (now USAPL). I would suggest you make the weight the night before, then hold off eating breakfast until after weigh in. Then you can eat breakfast and get yourself hydrated. Get to weigh in's when it starts, then if your close you can sweat some and then try again. I could always sweat out a pound or two the night before by getting in the shower and turning the water as hot as it would go. It's almost like a steam bath, Ted.

Pastor Jeff, Start weighing yourself in the morning and the evening so you get to know the difference. I am either in the 165 or 181 weight class. I leave it up to the Lord and don't worry about it. He has His reasons for me to be light or heavy, and I trust Him completely in this area.

Excellent point Bryan...thanks for the reminder to Trust in the Lord. It would indeed be a sin to worry about weight.

You can literally not drink water the day before and you should loose 3 lbs. I am a 220 lb guy and that is how i do it.

Sorry about that. No liquids for the day before weigh in. It will make you a little jittery though. I like to weigh in at night and load up on food and liquids after.

Some will also just get a swig of water but spit it back out again.

Got to be careful though because cutting weight can also cut your strength a great deal.
