Immigration bill will cost taxpayers $trillion$
For a shocking review of what the reform bill would do, click here.
Dear citizen,
Are you in favor of the new immigration reform bill soon to be voted on by the U.S. Senate? If you do make a rational decision to oppose the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007 – S.1348, get prepared to be called names.
Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said those who oppose the bill are bigots: “We’re gonna tell the bigots to shut up.” Homeland Security Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez said those who oppose the bill want “mass deportation.” Former Bush speechwriter Michael Gerson said those who oppose the bill are “anti-immigrant” and suggested they suffer from “rage” and “national chauvinism.” Even the President says those who oppose it “don’t want to do what is right for America.”
Among other things, this bill offers a provisional Z visa which instantly conveys legal status on approximately 12,000,000 illegal immigrants. It grants illegal immigrants massive benefits (subsidized college tuition rates, free legal counsel for agricultural workers, etc.) in return for a token fee - $3,000 for an individual, $5,000 for a family of five. And that is only the beginning! This bill will cost U.S. taxpayers trillions of dollars.
Those who broke the law and entered illegally are rewarded. Those who are working within the immigration laws aren’t given the preference granted to illegals.
We have two reviews of the bill. One prepared by two Congressmen and one prepared by the Heritage Foundation. You can see that working independently of each other they both came out at basically the same place. Click here for the Heritage Foundation summary and click here for the Congressmen's summary.
