I received this letter from someone locally here in N.C. They are some very upsetting situations. Please pray for these situations.

Hi Angels,
Here's our update for last month.
We made a donation to an officer of the Salvation Army who has graciously taken in three children to prevent them from sleeping outside. Their parents decided that they didn't want the children anymore and forbid them from coming inside the house. Terry solicited the help of the Salvation Army as the weather has turned cold because Social Services refused to assist. Right now Terry is battling with the parents to formally forfeit custody of the children to the Salvation Army. However, the parents don't want to give up the monthly assistance that they receive from Social Services. Unbelievable!!! The officer's monthly salary is only $600 so there isn't much to spare for their new additions. Thought we could step in and help them out during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Purchased medication for Benjamin. The mother is between jobs and social services declined to assist. They are reluctant to purchase medication for ADD as many parents take it for themselves and/or sell it on the street. Since the mother has worked (and will again), her annual earnings to-date place her above the Med-a-caid threshold. So poor Benjamin is caught between a rock and a hard place. That's where we stepped in to ensure he got the medicine so that he can function in school.
Many of you are probably familiar with the Gwyn children as we've previously sponsored them. They were being raised by their elderly grandmother after their parents abandoned them. However, Mrs. Gwyn had a massive stroke and is now in an extended care facility. The children were subsequently placed in foster care. We have made their annual activity fee at Southfork so that they can participate in extra-curricular functions.
Special thanks to Lora, Leslie, Sonya and Dan who have donated a "boat load" of used clothing, shoes, etc. These items were GREATLY appreciated by the school You should have heard the "ohhs and awhs" by the children who helped me carry them in to the school.
I swear the heart-ache never seems to end. The stories are almost unbelievable to me but unfortunately I know that they are true. Let me assure you that these monthly updates are the tip of the iceberg. The "other" stories that I get from Terry and my sister send a chill down my spine. Can't believe that all this happens right here in good ol' Winston-Salem.
Thank goodness for all you Angels.
