Hey gang,I've been on this routine for about 3 months.I've added 20lbs to my squat,10lbs to my bench. squat 3 warmup sets 2 work setsx10 superset with pullovers 2x20 high-pulls 1warm up 2x5 bench press (shoulder width) 2warm ups 2x8 pulldowns 1warm up 2x8 military press 2warm ups 2x8 crunches 2x25 add weight if easy
just twice a week!
since I'm so "old" (42) I didn't think I would ever get some serious gains.Since I started this routine I have increased all lift's for a total of 205 lbs,so far! GOD bless

I'm so sorry to hear that. I will pray that the Lord heals you - I know he can. If you try to continue lifting - start back slow and make steady progress. Try to stay positive - I know injuries are the worst. Hang in there - this too will pass!
God Bless, William Brothers

Thank you Will I'm ok,Doc say's there's no "nerve involvement" so the Lord is working his magic already! I will take your advice and take it slow,I guess I won't be the next powerlifting champ.I really thought I was going great too.I gained a total of 220lbs in all the lifts,I felt that I was on the right track.Ah well enough blubbering.I just have to train smarter.Thank you again.GOD bless

You have a very mature attitude about this and I think that is wonderful! I feel sure the Lord will continue his work both in your lifting and in your life! God Bless you!

Gonzo: sorry to hear of your injury. Just get a good belt and do some flat benches or something. It is bad for your back to do nothing as well as it is to do too much.

Thank you isbell,I have a good leather one, not the one with two latches on it,is that good? I tried bench presses yesterday, without the belt,240lbs went up easy. But I didn't push it.Thank you all again very much for your advice and positive feedback.GOD bless. Tom Gustafson

Sounds like you are being smart about things. Just don't get excited when you have a good day every now and then and start wanting to do more and more too soon. Let your body rest and come back at its own pace...it will, just be patient.

You are preeching to the choir. When I have been injured - I could not keep out of the gym even though I knew I needed to heal. But, that attribute is part of what makes us who/what we are and what separates powerlifters/bodybuilders from others. That recovery is so important though - resting is such a tough thing to do, especially when you start to notice a loss of muscle mass or a decline in strength but for the big picture it is very important. I say all this with the awareness that I probably would have a difficult time following any of this advice

I held back today,I benched, kept it under 200 and did some rev.grip pulldowns real light.Everything felt good,I don't plan on deads or squats for awhile anyway.I figure about 2-3weeks for those and super light.I have to remember to not bend at center of my back! That's why it finally gave out! Ah well what doesn't kill me makes me stronger! right? GOD bless and keep lifting!

Good work - even going lighter will help preserve your muscle tone and make it easier to come back when you are fully healed.
