I prayerfully attempted to do some 1RM to see how much of a toll my back injury this past summer and my hip injury a couple weeks ago have done to my strength level. Here are my attempts that God permitted in His grace from this morning. Curl: Got 120, 130, and 140. My best competition 1RM to date is 145 pounds. Squat: Got 275, 300, and 325. My best competition 1RM to date is 450 pounds and that was back in 1992, since I don’t do competitive squats any more. Bench Press: Got 250 and 275 but missed 300. My best competition 1RM to date is 320 pounds. Deadlift: Got 335 and 370 but missed 405. My best competition 1RM to date is 465 pounds.
Praise God for His mercy in allowing me to get what I got this morning.

Nice work!! Strong numbers!...keep liftin' for HIM! What is strange is that everyone but me sees it that way. I actually went through a bout of depression yesterday afternoon over those numbers.

Well Bryan there are a lot of people sitting in wheelchairs or using crutches that would do anything to have those numbers. Nothing to it man. Just make a little improvement every week and let it happen slowly and over a year you will be the same that you were. If not then you are still able to enjoy the sound of your name called out. The feel of polyester. The smell of the ammonia the air and the feel of chalk on your hands. It isnt the numbers that make it fun.

When doing a Gospel strength demonstration, God has always allowed me to pull at least 500 pounds – the most being 660 pounds. During competition, the best to date is 465 pounds. I have always thought that this is because of upon whom the glory is focused. Jessica thinks that the reason I am not able to do so much at competition is doubt. I know we are to pray without doubting. • “I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” [1 Timothy 2:8] • “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” [Hebrews 11:6] Do any of you have lifts that suffer due to yourself getting in the way? How did you get past that? How should I learn to trust God to bless me at competitions in such a way not to let self-esteem/pride get in the way?

Bryan, your RECOVERY is the thing here, brother. God is working in your life not only spiritually, but physically as well. He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it! Just remember, to Him 1,000 years is like a day, so as long as you think "In God's time" you will be much more at peace with the way He is healing you.
God Bless.

These are some very good strong numbers Bro. Hold your head up, keep the faith and you will attain your goals soon enough.

Brayn, whenever you go for a 1RM either at the gym of the platform, offer it to God as worship, and regardless of the outcome, it was sweet to your Father in heaven.
