I sort of, kinda went through the Bible music threads. Can't say as I agree or disagree. I'm looking for Christian music to get the juices flowing. Of course, that will fall under the category of Christian Rock/Hardrock.
However, the one problem I have is that most of what I've seen in this category really is no different from the rest of the world's music. The lyrics in most of what I have heard up to this point don't have anything positive to say. They seem to be mostly about the poor state that the world is in.
Is there ANY rock that is more Christ-centered instead of being about the sad state of affairs that the world is in that has a good beat to it?
I'm actually new to Christian rock, so I don't know which groups' songs are more "appropriate" to what I would consider Christian music. I have a CD by Third Day and their work seems ok. I also picked up an album by Kutless. I am not impressed with the lyrics of the Kutless album, especially if that is what is being considered Christian rock. Where's Jesus or the Blood ever mentioned? Ok, probably a different thread for that topic.
So does anyone know of any artists/groups that sing more "praise to the King" in a a rock /hardrock format that would be good to workout to?
Thanks.

Vince, you are correct many bands like to play both sides of the fence and continue to ride it. I like a band called Building 429, they are from here in N.C. In fact, I saw them the other night after a local baseball game and they lifted up His name. Some of their music could go both ways as well, between a love song or glorifying the Lord.
I really like Praise and Worship Leader Chris Tomlin and also Matt Redman.
God Bless, Mike

Vince, I'm going to go out on a limb here. I don't think your question got ignored by everyone other than Mike. Speaking for me only, I don't have a clue who the bands are. I recognized the names Third Day and Building 429, and I've heard stuff by Chris Tomlin, but I can't call too terribly many to mind.....
I'll just plead ignorance. :') Wish I could help you, bro.
God Bless. Doug P.

Shane, Jeremy Camp was suppose to play at Sonfest this past weekend, but cancelled due to family issues. I have a couple of his albums, if you recall....his song "You are worthy of my praise" is what I lifted to at the last Iron Boy. If you want some Chris Tomlin to listen to, I will let you barrow some. It is more praise than rock.
God Bless, Mike
What is amazing is his story. He married his high school sweatheart knowing she was dying of cancer......he married her anyways...... He has remarried and had a baby last year.

Thanks and God Bless! Dave, first and foremost welcome and God Bless. I would pray hard about the financial end. I do all th time and some how we seem to make it. We have actually been giving more to the Church and still making it. God will find a way to bless you. I have been checking music out and Disciple is a band that is pretty hard and still packs a punch in lyrics. Their older stuff is more scripture based. I would recommend Disciple-By God or Disciple-Disciple. These are their last two albums. God Bless, Mike

Dave, my search continues as well. I just picked up a P.O.D. album, but not too crazy about it. As I wrote above, it doesn't appear that even the so called Christian bands are very much Christ-centered. As Christians, I think we should be listening to something that glorifies Jesus and is uplifting in nature. I don't think listening to lyrics that continue to rehash the dire state of the world or try to make some kind of statement is the way to go. I do like Third Day though. At least they sing about Jesus. I'd say they're more rock though and not heavy metal.
As far as the finances go, I can tell you that I've been in similar situations. I've had, I've lost; and I've had and lost again. We live in an uncertain world. And as Christians, we know that we will face trials. In my Christian walk through these ordeals, it's never easy. I've had all the Christian cliches thrown at me. I know all about trusting in God and having faith. You do too. But having people tell you, "that this too shall pass" isn't very comforting when you're going through difficulties.
Are you doing something wrong? Did I do things wrong? Maybe. But sometimes, things just happen. People lose jobs. They may own a business that bankrupts because the economy faltered. Whatever. One thing I learned is don't blame yourself. Just get up every day and do the best you can. My life has downscaled considerably over the past several years because of financial difficulties. I went from a $200+K home in a subdivision to a $60K home in a park.
I once gave a sermon to a Unity Church (before I was saved). It was entitled A.L.F. It boiled down to this. ACCEPT the circumstances, whatever they may be; LET GO...stop beating yourself up over it. Stop trying to figure everything out. Have FAITH that God knows what's happening and will take care of you.
I like this new country song that just came out. I don't know who sings it, but I really think this is the best advice for a Christian, because I think too many Christians will get in a bind, pray and pray and pray; and then just sit around waiting for God to do something.
The words of the song are (may not be exact)...."If you're goin' through hell Keep on goin' Don't slow down If you're scared, don't show it You might get out 'Fore the devil even knows you're there"
"if you're goin' through hell Keep on movin' Face that fire Walk right through it You might get out 'Fore the devil even knows you're there"

Hi, David, and welcome! Keep in mind about Job. It wasn't necessarily that he was doing anything wrong, although after some soul-searching he found out he had pride. It was more of a test. GOD said "Have you considered my servant Job?" And to paraphrase, "You can take everything he has but his life." Job hung on, never stopped having faith in God. Because of Job, I firmly believe sometimes when we have trials it means we've been doing something RIGHT!
To you, David, and Vince, I'm still pretty clueless on the music, but I have heard of Jeremy Camp before, just don't know any of his tunes. :')
David, I will certainly include you in my prayers, that God gives you what you need.
God Bless. Doug

For anyone looking for some great work out music, very heavily based in scripture (lots of songs are played while someone is reading Psalms in the background) try Extol. Living Sacrafice is my personal favorite, and Agony Scene is pretty good. I hear good things about Glass Casket also. Let me know what you think about them.
