Dear Lifters,
The 2009 powerlifting seasons is off and running and in full swing. Last weekend we had 2 events running, The Ironman Nationals in Richmond, VA run by John Shifflett and the Master National Bench Press run by Bret Kernoff in Haverhill, Mass. Both meets were very successful and capped out with the maximum number of lifters allowed for the meets. The results will be posted shortly as soon as the drug testing results come back.
I hope everyone likes the new website, Shane has been working very hard on it since the Worlds back in November and we have much more to do to it. He will be fixing the homepage to where it scrolls down as 1 page not 3 separate pages. Please check things out and let me know if there are any problems you might have noticed. The records are being updating but check them out to see if they are current through 2008. The Final 2008 rankings are posted as well so remember to check them out. You can purchase ranking plaques for and lift posted on the rankings.
Our state chairmen are now doing the records for their states so if there is a problem contact your state chairman and let him know what the problem is. I will be doing the National and World record updates.
The Worlds meets are scheduled for October this year to get away from all the World events in November. The schedule says October 1 for both. That is because the templet will not allow us to use a TBA as we are still working out the details for them. The World Full Powerlifting will be in Las Vegas this year and the Single Lift Worlds will be back in Norfolk. We are working on 2 sites there, we have permission to go back to Brute Strength Gym and we are looking into a hotel function Hall as well. You can plan for them to be run in October this year so make your plans now.
The next meet on the schedule for the North Carolina is our Battle of the Border in Currituck, NC on April 4th. The axe is back, yes this is the meet where we give away the 5 foot sword and axes and maces mounted on plaques. Don't worry about the deadline date just get your forms in the mail and you can call or e-mail to confirm you sent it in. I got the forms out late this year so I will not be adding late fees. After the meet we will be hosting the 9th annual Carolina Bodybuilding Championships in Elizabeth City, NC. If you want to or know someone who might want to compete in either meet you can print off an entry form from the website.
On March 28th Paul Gilliot will be hosting the Arizona State championships. Print off and entry form and call Paul to make sure there is room left in his meet.
I will attach a schedule below for you to view for upcoming events.
