Christian Standard Bible, a Holman edition very close to the NASB but a little easier to read, not as watery as the NIV.

Thane, Regarding Billy Graham, I watched an interview of him on Larry King once where he died a literal firey Hell and promoted being ecumenical, so I don't hold him too much an authority on doctrine. Praise God for all and any souls he has won to Christ, but I am not going to him to support any point I want to make.

Doug, For those who don't know what the word "begat" means should get a copy of The Defined KJV Bible. It has a built in dictionary to handle that very point.

Thane, Since I am not familar with the Christian Standard Bible, does it use the same foundational manuscripts as the NASB? If so, I would avoid it.

Bryan, thanks for the heads-up on the "Defined King James." I've never heard of that one, but it sounds, from your brief description/inflection, that it would be exactly what I'm looking for! Modern English is hard enough for me, no less Shakespearean English.
Would you mind emailing me where I could find the Defined KJV?
God Bless. Doug

Yes, I'm pretty aware of that. It's a term folks can relate to that doesn't need much clarification, and moderately accurate, descriptively.
Thanks for the web link. I'm going to check it out in 5...4...3...2...

Bryan, No, it does not use the same foundational manuscript. I leave that Bible at home and cannot look it up right now, but I remember looking at it last weekend, it uses the manuscript from 1400's, Ill have to get it to you tomorrow.
