I'm sure that Christian music has been around for generations..
You can find Christian music in a lot of different music styles.. But what is it about Christian music that one would like to keep listening to it for long periods of time?
For me it would be basically lyrics if they are words that bring bring peace and contentment to one's heart. Sometime the instruments can play a big part in why one would also like Christian music.
Sometimes admittedly it's hard just to listen to Christian music because of the more popular worldly music. The reason why I would listen to the worldly music is because this is the kind of music I have been brought up on. It's also music that is everywhere right now no matter what style. The only thing about the worldly music that I would not put up with is anything that either has bad lyrics, bad messages or puts down any one person, race or faith.
But once the Christian music starts, to a Christian, if the lyrics are good then believe me it would be very easy to listen to for longer periods of time.
Christian music may not be as popular but it will be around for some time to come if you know where to look.
One group that comes to mind is a group called Chevelle. They are a group based out of Chicago. I will post more about them later today.

I said earlier in the opening post that you can hear good Christian anywhere, and anytime at times you least expect it.
I had just posted another thread and happened to run across this very good video of one very talented man named David Wesley who is singing all parts by himself at the same time..
David Wesley is a singer in Cobourg, Ontario who's sharing the Gospel worldwide from the comfort of his basement with his a cappella videos. The tools of his ministry are recording equipment, a silken voice and an array of striped polos.
For this video, Wesley compiled seven tracks of himself singing the popular worship tune "In Christ Alone" (Stuart Townend and Keith Getty). The result is a rich and uniquely moving moment of worship.
I just listened to the whole thing and can't believe how good this was. The Lord truly blessed this young man. Please watch this video and see if you don't agree with me.

I know what you mean about the Christian music.. When I was going to school I don't think it was to popular or mainstream among Christian Believers. The only group I had ever heard of was Stryper. And yet I had not enough interest to find out what music they do. What has taken place though by the mid and late 90s was to be a Christian revival movement. Many were saying Our Nation is turning away. We need something strong to bring a message to those who don't believe. . It was the idea as those stations like TBN to promote this Christian music idea to become Main stream Christian culture. So many churches began to rid of classic orchestra style with more contemporary upbeat every day kind of music. Churches are very fearful if they play boring slow songs people will end up leaving their Church. The music is kind of a competition against other local congregations. . . This should not be the reason why people attend Church. Unfortunately for many that is the case. They are looking forward to the music before and after entertainment. . They know that little Baptist Church down the street from them only does classic Hymns. With exhale of air they say oh yeah that Church is so boring. I like this Methodist up beat up to day my kind of thinking Church. Yes they say this much because of the music and how people behave. But what if it was the case that the small Baptist Baruch taught the truth much more accurate with a message of God’s love and forgiveness? What if people were more kind and giving at that small Church? What if the upbeat Methodist Church was teaching less accurate more compromising views? What if these people care more about what they own not taking their time to go out of the way to help others. Oh because this Church is more upbeat. These people are so much more modern of a group. . They like nice cars and they like going to the beach on the weekends. Yeah this is my crowd. It's not different with Christian music. To send a message of Jesus is not enough to inspire a Christian Heart. What kind of sound are they using? Are they screaming their head off yelling like a cat being bitten on the tail? Does this group sound like Metallica exactly with Jesus Lyrics in place of it? Or is this Rap music like Rock a Christian like Thug image? I think there is a great mistake in thinking of some of these music artists. Lyrics are not enough to make a song. Even as we advocate God’s word to others it must be done in a proper manner. I think that a lot of this Christian music should be toned down to a cleaner looking image. Don’t be afraid about losing audiences. We are never told to be or copy the World. . Friends I used to make my own Christian Raps. I then realized though that I was not as a White Boy rapper being any different than Eminem. My Rap makes me look cool. I got Praises from friends clapping hands from family. In the end result it's not much different than being LL Cool J or the Beastie Boys. I gave up my Rap music because I was to glorified and God was not. No matter what lyrics I put together my style was in line with the same sound as bad boy Rap music. So if I ever again make up any more raps I promise to God I would tone my image down to humble God. . and if they would not like it as much as Kid Ice then I don't know what to say. Listen to groups and pay attention to all aspect. Say to yourself and ask God in Prayer. . Is this God the music you want me to listen to? Is this the image you want Jesus to be represented by? Because let me tell you some music in disguise blends Satanic ideas to mix it with Christian ideas. . This would be called “Crucifer ‘ music. Christian and Lucifer music in one theme. Because the Devil's best disguise is in the Church. For also to blend into Christian music. . see therefore the Devil is often the Angel of Light. . Please don’t think I am a Grandfather Dixieland. I was walking backward to school in the snow kind of person. I grew up in Generation X. We had enough Hard core Rock Rap by that time. .it is just the pitch of sex, violence and even worse now 30 years later than when I was growing up. Most people would say the bad word when they got upset only. Today bad words is an every day usage in common conversations. By the 90s the worse evil music America has known. I can not repeat the songs or lyrics.. My friends and I listened to this stuff with the radio and booming woofers. So as I was saying Christian music needs to start using some opposite approaches on what kind of music’’Christians’ should be listening to other people in the world is not. If we try too hard to be the same as them we end up being no different by much. . This makes us compromisers. Don’t complain and grumble and say you will not let that hard core Christian music go. Give in and submit over to God.
If you listen to hard core metal Christian please try to tone the music more softer rock very clean mu sic and all its messages. Don't follow any group who desires to be more popular than the king Jesus who they represent. . If your music sounds similar to bad boy Hip hop or Rap Gangsta with Christian Lyrics tone the rap music to a more cleaner image. Don't follow Rappers that look like show off Hollywood you can't touch me style. Follow Rap or Hip hop that shows most love Poetic at most and kind humble group of musicians.. Yes it does task Sacrifice to give up the hard core versions it tone them down. But Jesus sacrificed all he had for us. . Our style should be more tone low key in the Sanctuary kind of creative music. . Let's not go to Rock the House down leave that to Thrasher. Their intentions and their walk is much different than ours. . . We follow the light therefore we must be the light seen before men. Matthew 5:16 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
We owe God our time and our music. Keep practicing. Improve in all aspects and image. We represent a compassionate Holy God. How shall the world see Him?
