Hi all this is RJ here. I don’t think this will be a long discussion. But I am just on the topic of Study.
We’re all different and we all have different methods, schedules the paces we learn at other books that help us to understand the Bible. Even in some case like mine that includes my eye sight and also the kind of hearing that I have.
At the end of 1994 I became Deaf because of Vertigo. I had learned sign language trying to fit in with the Deaf community. Since I had been hearing most of my life I still spoke and thought like one who hears. Those born and raised in Deaf use a different syntax in their speech and use picture signs called ASL. As in my case I had signed more pigeon that is similar to English with a few shortcuts.
Then in my thirties I became blind because of Glaucoma. Now I could not see or hear. I even attempted suicide more than once. I almost succeeded. But I thank God He spared my life. Basically I took sleeping pills one day and prednisone another day. I thought I was worthless. And God did not like me and I had no purpose. Because I am still living I do have a purpose. I started watching Church TV TBN before I went blind. So I am familiar with verses in the bible. But I don’t know where a lot of verse starts at. Or the exact words to find them at times. I am familiar with the Bible in a general way. But truly I have only read some books. While other books I still need to read I do pretty well for not reading yet all the books. I try to work off with whatever I had read or verses or parables I may know off hand.
Since I don’t see my girlfriend reads me online Bible. I had a cochlear implant in 2007. So Anna needs to repeat at times what is being said. Therefore both my studies and my posting could be slower than some of the others. However I believe even though not having gifts such as healing speaking in Tongues or an expert in Bible prophecy I do believe God helps me to discern basic understanding of the Word to what I should know.
I study every day a little bit ten chapters 2 verses I learn. Sometimes things are straightforward other times I wonder what a certain scripture is about.
I just started reading an end time’s book. Since I just began I don’t have the over view yet. But I will say it is a post Trib aspect of the Bible. I like learning all about the Bible but since I believe we live in the last times Bible Prophecy has become important. I want to learn Daniel and Revelation I just began. Even though I have read Revelation before now I am actually doing a slow study on this.
I need to start reading soon some Bible commentaries. And who is good in Bible commentaries I am not sure. There are a few well known names. But at times they do cross into pretrib such as JV McGee. I’m not sure about Matthew Henry if he is post or pre or what view.
I would like to ask this. Can anyone recommend to me other names of Bible commentaries who are post Trib believers? I would like to take a look at these books to see if they will help if you know of any.
In my posting sometimes I post like an article or a devotional. Sometimes I ask questions even if I already think I have an answer I may believe myself. Since this is a forum why not ask. Some questions may be simple it is not I am being Dumb. But it does help discussion to sharpen our minds.
For example just because one knows Algebra you still need to use addition and subtraction. You have not forgotten the basics just because we become more advance in learning. We learn and we relearn we train and we retrain. I consider every person being a learner more than a teacher. Jesus said do not call anyone Father or Teacher because God is the Father and your only one true teacher. Truly God teaches us we don’t teach God. The Bible teaches us we don’t teach the Bible. Actually I did get that part of John Hagee a pre trib believer. However every pastor has their good element in their sermons including Hagee even though he is good in History but harsh on some of the minor issues. I don’t listen to Hagee anymore. I’ve read Pat Robertson whom I no longer follow Tim La Hayes and Ed Hindson for pre trib I no longer read. I am now looking for another way to learn. Pat Robertson can be very sound. But he has false prophecies that never happen so I am looking and searching what is safe to read from who and where.
Now I would like to know from any other members how your life is and schedule? How do you go about your studies? Could include how often, how much you read, helpful books or tips on good study habits.
My method may not work for you. Your method may not work for me maybe or maybe not. Who would like to share their life schedule and Bible studies? For example you can say I work a lot so I have to fit in at night or in the morning. Let’s see how we are the same in study. Let’s see how we are different in how we go about in our life. By the way I read New Kings James now. I am wondering what Bible to use in place to simply or clarify what verses in NKJV would be good to substitute when not sure. Certainly not the New NIV. What version of Bible would one use if not King James to help clarify scriptures not understanding I king’s names or New Kings James. By the way I don’t know Greek or Hebrew. Only Ecclesia that’s all I know in Greek. Since it takes me a while I got to make sure I understand this in English :sign10: . If I start reading a Bible in Spanish well I guess I would be really original for someone who speaks English. I would have the Bible in an all new translation no one has ever heard.. :sign10: Just being a goof ball. Dios Amor. God Love. There is my Spanish lesson.
Ok back and track let’s talk about Studies.
