media.putfile.com/beaupressBEAU PRESSES This is an exercise that you can do to hit several key areas. I first heard about these 7 or 8 years ago watching Powerlifting Video Magazine. They are named after Beau Moore. I will explain to you the original way he did them, followed by alternate methods. The original exercise is done after your normal heavy bench workout. This is a triceps exercise working on lockout. You want to do 3 sets of 5 reps at about 70 percent of max. These are done close grip, grip can vary depending on what you are comfortable with close grip wise. You are doing a normal bench press, coming down and touching and going back up about 2/3 to ¾ the way up, pause for 5 seconds, and then finish the lockout. You will repeat this for a total of 5 reps. You should barely be able to finish the 5 rep. If it is too heavy, then lighten up on the weight. If too light, then add appropriate weight. In the video, we did this same type exercise with an alternate method. We paused the weight on the bottom for a split second, and then pressed about ¾ of the way up. We did this for 5 sets of 3 at 70 percent of max. You can also do these with an extra wide grip to hit the chest more. These will really fry your triceps, especially if you are doing these as an accessory. One needs to make sure they are properly warmed up and you have adequate spotting. If I am off on the original way Beau Moore did these, I apologize; it was 7 or 8 years ago! LOL God Bless and Happy Lifting! Mike Luke 15:3
