Vince, Can you tell me what you mean when you use chains? Chains are another way to accomodate resistance. I use 5/8" chain which is generally about 20-22 more pounds of weight at the top. As you lower the bar, the chains gather on the floor decreasing the weight, then load as you press. When I bench, I usually set the chains so that I have only half the weight of the chains loaded at lockout. If I'm doing squats, I set the chains so that I have the full weight loaded at the top. So, if I have 100 pounds on the bar and 2 chains on each side and I'm loading half the chain at full lockout, I'm actually locking out 140 pounds; but at the chest, the weight is 100 pounds because all the chain weight is deloaded.

MIRACULOUS PRAISE REPORT
Our lease on our truck was expiring at the end of this month. Also, I've been needing to get some equipment for my office. Unfortunately, we've been unable to get any financing because we filed a Ch. 13 about a year and a half ago and no one would take a chance on us even though all of our payments are current. They would say that they would lend to Ch. 7, but not 13s. Go figure.
The car issue is that we would be down to one car. I work 40 minutes away from where I live. If we had just one car, that means my wife would not be stuck at home all day. I recently changed my hours to try to work it out so that I would be able to do everything I need to do on my working days, then she would be able to do her stuff on my off days in anticipation of being down to one vehicle.
With the business equipment, I would go to another office on my off days to utilize the equipment I need. Unfortunately, this requires another 25 minute drive in the opposite direction and because potential clients are not as willing to make that drive, it is a bit of a hindrence to building my business.
Anyway, today my wife tried a different credit union to get financing for the truck. And they approved us. So we will be able to keep our second car. But it doesn't end there. Before I was ready to leave for the day, my landlord came in with a letter of approval from another leasing agent for a loan to purchase the equipment I need.
It is no secret that I have had some major challenges to my faith over the last few years. What I have learned from this is that not only do we serve a GREAT GOD; but it is only by His grace and mercy that we receive anything. I have come to the realization that I am a sinner. I am weak in faith. I get discouraged and depressed. But the big lesson is that even though I am a sinner and not worthy to receive anything from Him, it is only by His grace and mercy that He does help us. Praise the Lord!

Fri 3/9/07 SQ day...last week of circa max Box SQ:45+greens/5; suit on,straps down(+greens&purples):45x3, 135x3, 185x2, 235x2, 265x2x5sets, wraps:265+bands&40#chains/1, 265+bands&80#chains...Don't know what happened here. Got off box, but couldn't push hips through and needed help rest of the way. Not acceptable, so tried it again and smoked it, 265+bands&120#chains(about 615 at top)x1...YES, PRAISE JESUS!!! mod. rev. hypers:3x12w/green band leg curl:3x12w/blue pull-thrus:stack x 12x2sets sea. knee pull-aparts:1x15w/mon.mini, 1x15w/purple
I wasn't real sure how today was going to go. My back/hip were feeling much better the beginning of the week. Then, Wednesday, I was drying myself off and flared up my back again. It lasted just a few minutes and was fine the rest of the day. Then yesterday morning, I was putting on my socks and flared it up again. Again, it was better shortly after, but it's still been a little sore. I was thinking of either trying a pair of briefs under my suit for a little more hip support and/or using lesser band tension and making up the rest in chain weight to reduce the eccentric overload. But, I felt pretty good when I got to the gym and decided to do my normal circa max workout, even adding in the chains to really overload the top.
I know this was the Lord. There was no way that I could have handled this with the way my back was feeling if it wan't for His strength. The devil was trying to put doubt and fear into my mind, but He is my strength and with Him, all things are possible. Praise the Lord.
Next week, I'll start going straight weight and gear. The States are 2 weeks away, and that will just be a "test" meet for me in which I'm not even going to worry about making weight. That means I'll probably lift somewhere between 150-152, which is what I usually weigh after rehydrating and putting on weight after 24 hr. weigh-ins.
Additional Praise Report...I just took my BP...It was 162/84. I have stopped taking the Blue Thunder and switched to a product called White Lightening. It's basically the same stuff without all the "extra" stimulant ingredients. What's also intersting about these is that even though they appear to be made by different companies, they are made in the same town. Hmm. So my BP seems to be getting back under control. Again, praise Jesus.

Good day considering I worked out at 8:00a.m. After work, I went over to a high school meet that was going on. They enlisted me to judge even though I didn't get there until the second flight of bench press. You can tell that judging was pretty awful. I wasn't there more than 5 minutes when I saw the worst uneven lockout get passed. I heard squats weren't too good either. It was fun though. Anytime, you get a chance to do help out in these meets, take the opportunity. It's a great chance to help these kids out and impart some knowledge.

I tell you what I REALLY like about your workouts. It's this common theme you have running through your heavy days.
"Went for ZZZ pounds. Missed it. Waited a minute and got it."
That is gutsy lifting!
Looking forward to your meet results!
God Bless.
