I truly believe that God can use all kinds of Christian music for His glory…from gospel, hymns, contemporary, to rock. God is not interested in the beat but rather the heart. I don’t believe that a different variety of music is the issue but the lyrics, the intent; and edification of the Lord is really what should be measured. If a song by Third Day ministers to someone’s heart more then a song by Cliff Barrows then so be it (Billy Graham has used both of these artists to open up for him before preaching the message of hope)…as long as that heart is crying out for Jesus. Does the music of Third Day compromise or contradict the truth of Jesus Christ or the true worship of our Lord and Savior? No, It’s a different vehicle of music speaking to a different taste all with the same truth!

God doesn't violate His own commandments, statutes, guidelines, etc.

God doesn't violate His own commandments, statutes, guidelines, etc. Bryan, there is simply no truth behind the myth that contemporary Christian music violates the commandments, statutes, or guidelines set by God. Yes, we are to hold the music up to the Biblical standard with its lyrics and intent, but to suggest that proclaiming the goodness and mercy of Christ with a different drum beat or guitar sound is non-biblical and cannot be used by God is simply wrong. Psalm 108:1 "My heart is steadfast, O God, I will sing and make music with all my soul." I think the Bible mentions that David was a man after God's own heart. My brother, as Christians we are to hold each other up and have these discussion as to not seperate the body of Christ but rather come together and glorify Him with all our mind, soul, and body!! I have a good relationship with Jesus Christ and I'm encouraged in my faith when I join Third Day and Jennifer Knapp to praise the name of Jesus! I think we miss the point when we try and contain God in box and say because a song is upbeat it is an abomination to The Lord. Let come together and offer a new song of praise from our heart to our Lord and wonderful Savior! I'm not suggesting that the music that you feel is pleasing to God...that you should stop singing and praising to that music. But to suggest that a song (because of its beat) is a violation of God's commands, statutes, or guidelines is just not right.
